Am I a successful Public Sector Unit Employee?

Today while taking my afternoon 2pm Tea, which is quite regular in any PSU, suddenly some thoughts jerked my mind. Yes, sometimes we PSU employees do think, i.e. putting precisely our grey matter to some use. I was just introspecting myself and found out that whether my conduct depicts the traits of a successful PSU employee or not. My normal day starts with coming to office, punching my card in, coming to desk, switching on my PC ,checking some utter non-sense(sorry, I forgot to describe , the non-sense is my usual official communication that should reach down to the bottom from “TOP MANAGEMENT”).Now, come 8:30 am, and I would be waiting rather impatiently for my morning coffee. Yes, we PSU employees wait for 3 things very impatiently 1) Morning Tea. 2) Afternoon Tea. 3) Sixth Pay commission/2nd Pay Revision. The two points made above can be deciphered quite legibly, the third one, I would like to bring some focus upon. Sixth Pay Commission: By definition, A sixth Pay commission is a “VIRTUAL ENTITY” bearing no resemblance to any person, place or thing in particular, even if it does it is a mere co-incidence . This “ENTITY”is being highlighted with utmost diligence everywhere, staring right from recruitment advertisements, to government election manifesto, to company annual reports. But, we the employees are yet to discover this “ENTITY”. Now, before running short of time and space, I would like to highlight few of the traits which during a longer course of time I’ve acquired and which are an utmost prerequisite for a successful Employee. (1) Have documentation and approvals for each and everything you do. - Oh, by the way, I forgot to take approval for scribbling these lines, which again I would be taking from Ministry of Heavy Industries in due course of time. (2) Don’t apply “YOUR GREY MATTER” too frequently and try to minimize its use: Save Energy.
- If you try to violate this rule, you may get a “CHARGESHEET” For misconduct under CDA (Completely Dumb Approach). (3) “Work is worship or WORSHIP IS WORK” -NO OFFENSE MEANT FOR DULY RELIGIOUS PEOPLE. But every third day, I find some or the other deity being worshipped here and there, now and often. Of course, we have some 3, 60,000 deities at our helm for worshipping and only 0.1% of them could be attended to in a year. (4) MEETINGS are important: to discuss, to form a task force, an action plan. - Always discuss, meet, form a committee, a task force, an action plan before arriving at your own conclusions. So last time when I went home , my mom said” Son, I’m getting proposals for your marriage” I replied quite assertively to her utter astonishment“ Okay we’ll have a meeting, form a task force, formulate an action plan and would look into the proposals. Forward a note to everybody involved in putting up this proposal. As this is basically a capacity augmentation and successor planning task, we need concurrence from all parties involved , the PDC or proposed date of completion needs to be specified and the progress needs to be reviewed every 6 months.” I, suppose, Moses had TEN COMMANDMENTS, but PSUs do have 1010 commandments to follow. So if you have followed all those and have became a SPSUE (Successful PSU Employee), then, CONGRATULATIONS!! For all, those ,who are still in the process , my advice to them is to follow your peers and most importantly your “SENIORS or SENIOR CITIZENS” and IF YOU HAVE A POTENTIAL, A TALENT , A KNACK FOR PAPERS, SNACKS FOR TEA(THAT WAS BASICALLY TO RHYME),YOU WOULD SURELY BECOME A SPSUE by the time SIXTH PAY COMMISION ARRIVES.
